Placement Summary
This poem
was triggered in me this summer after a wonderful experience at Montgomery
County Legal Aid Services. I had the privilege of working with some of the
best secretaries, attorneys and paralegals, who were ever so patient in
their ability to be mentors and teachers.
I enjoyed this
placement because it gave me an opportunity to get exposed to different
disciplines of the law that a regular law school classroom could not afford
me. I was fortunate to have the Montgomery County Court House across the
street from the office, thus I was able to walk across the street and
observe the day-to-day dynamics of the courthouse and its officials. I also
had the opportunity of doing intake by talking with clients face to face or
on the telephone hotline service. I also became well acquainted with the
Prothonotary. I learned how to draft legal memorandums, petitions, and
preliminary objections.
This summer has truly
been filled with wonderful experiences, and it has rekindled my desire to
engage in Public Interest Law.
